Evaluation 2- Jade

HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS

In our thriller opening, we present our main protagonist as a female in her late teens/early 20s whom is
making her way home, minding her own business. From the use of costume, we are able to present her age to the audience. By using trendy, casual wear, we are able to convey the age and personality of our protagonist. We use this to contrast with our main antagonist whom is dressed in all black and face covered.

The example we used for our own costume ideas for our protagonist was Casey from 'The Call' (Anderson, 2013). Casey wears bright colours, blue jeans and adds to her style with cool accessories. We contirbuted these factors into the protagonist costume with a multi-coloured shirt, blue jeans and a pair of sunglasses.

We decided to break the stereotypical use of a male antagonist within the situation of breaking and entering into someone's house with the use of a female within the same age group as our protagonist. We wanted to do this to make our audience question the motive of this antagonist as it definitely changes our narrative from being cliche, which is our desired affect.

An example for costume we used for our antagonist was Ellie from ' One Missed Call' (Valette, 2008). Ellie wears dark jeans and a dark hoodie which covers her face. We wanted to incorporate this into our own antagonist's costume because it presented her feminine features whilst hiding her identity.
